THE NUMBER OF TOURISTS LAGGED BEHIND THE 2019 IN JUNE
More than 5 million tourists came to Turkey in June 2022. The number of incoming tourists increased by 144.9 percent compared to the same month last year, while it decreased by 5.71 percent compared to June 2019. There is also a large decrease in the number of Ukrainian tourists due to the impact of the war.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Turkey has published the Border Statistics for June 2022.
According to interim data received from the General Directorate of Security; The number of foreigners visiting Turkey in June 2022 increased by 144.91 percent compared to the same month last year to 5 million 14 thousand 821 people.
The number of foreign tourists decreased by 5.71 percent compared to June 2019. In June 2019, 5 million 318 thousand 984 foreigners had arrived in the country.
January-2022 In the first 6-month period, the number of visitors to Turkey increased by 158.41 percent compared to the same period last year to 19 million 530 thousand 618 people.

THE GERMANS CAME THE MOST
In the ranking of the countries that sent the most visitors to Turkey in June 2022, Germany took the first place with 14.33 percent (718 thousand 838 tourists).
Russia took the second place with 12 percent (602 thousand 15 tourists), and the United Kingdom (United Kingdom) took the third place with 9.05 percent (453 thousand 809 tourists).
This was followed by Bulgaria and Iran.
January-June 2022, Germany again took the first place in the ranking of the countries sending the most visitors to Turkey with 12.41 percent (2 million 30 thousand 548 tourists).
Russia was in second place with 8.90 percent (1 million 455 thousand 912 tourists), while the UK was in third place with 7.73 percent (1 million 264 thousand 275). Bulgaria and Iran followed the UK.

82.3 PERCENT DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF UKRAINIAN TOURISTS
According to provisional data obtained from the General Directorate of Security and the Turkish Statistical Institute, the number of citizen visitors residing abroad who came to Turkey in the first 6 months of 2022 increased by 72.94 percent compared to the 6 months of 2021 to 3 million 165 thousand 538.
On the other hand, the Russia-Ukraine war continues to affect tourism.
The number of Ukrainian visitors to Turkey decreased by 82.34 percent year-on-year in June.
The number of Russian visitors increased by 243.3 percent.
